Scott Matthews got hooked on reading thrillers in high school, as an escape from reading “the classics” in his high school English class. His collection of thrillers soon grew to include the best genre authors of the day; Graham Greene, Ian Fleming, John Le Carre, Trevanian, Charles McCarry, Frederick Forsyth, Ken Follett, and David Morrell.
After graduating college with a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Oregon and a J.D. from the University of Oregon School of Law, he practiced law as a trial attorney in Oregon. He also served in the Oregon National Guard as a CBRN(Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear) specialist and J.A.G. officer.
Later, when his favorite authors made him wait too long for their next books, he started jotting down notes of the thrillers he would someday write. He now has written four political thrillers in the Adam Drake series (a patriotic Oregon attorney and former elite military warrior) and is writing full time to continue the series.
Scott still lives on the Left Coast with his beautiful wife and enjoys good wine, Oregon football, and is a big Formula One racing fan.
